Headlights that light the street

My next notes came in the morning. The headlights needed to light far more, so that you could see much further and see what was around you. The glowing power-up boxes clashed with the rain. And on ice, when my tank got hung up on something while I was accelerating, it shot forward the moment it came free.
The agent took the beam from 35 metres to about 90, widened it and made it much brighter. A beam only lights what is ahead, so it also hung a soft light above each tank for the pavements, walls and props around it. In the first render that light sat just above the hull and washed the tank out, so it went up to five metres.
The boxes turned out to ignore the fog, which is why a distant one shone at full colour through grey rain. The agent made them fade with distance like everything else. For the ice it reproduced the fault in a test: with the tank held, the speed it was pushing for climbed to 6.8 metres a second. That speed can now run only a little ahead of the tank's real speed, so nothing builds up.
In this build
- Headlights reach about 90 metres, up from 35, with a wider and much brighter beam.
- With its headlights on, a tank also lights the pavements, walls and props around it.
- Power-up boxes fade with the fog like everything else.
- On ice, a tank held by something it is pushing no longer builds up thrust and shoots forward when it comes free.
